For children entering grades Pre-K - 2 the window for submitting a Request for Testing form (RFT) is closed. All OLSAT/BSRA testing concluded February 2010.

Families will be notified of their children's BSRA and OLSAT results in Mid-April 2010.

There will be a summer administration for students new to NYC. The RFT for those students who arrived after the established testing period will be posted at http://schools.nyc.gov/Academics/GiftedandTalented/EligibilityApplications/default.htm in Mid-June 2010.

NOTE: Our summer test administration is only for students new to NYC and entering K or Grade 1 in September 2010, i.e. elementary school, entry grades. Unfortunately, we do not offer a summer administration for families who were residing in NYC during the application submission window and/or entering Grade 2 and above.

We expect the 'Request for Placement (RFP) for Upper Elementary Grades' to be available at the end of May 2010 and it will be posted at http://schools.nyc.gov/Academics/GiftedandTalented/EligibilityApplications/default.htm.

The RFP for Upper Elementary Grades is typically due on the last day of school & eligibility is based on the ELA & Math State Exams. If your child currently attends a non-public school, the eligibility & admission criteria for non-public school applicants will be included. It is important to note the Office of Student Enrollment (OSE) does not place students in Elementary School, G & T programs in the exit grade, i.e. Grade 5 at K – 5 site. NYC DOE does not open new classes/programs in upper grades; it only fills vacant seats. Frequently there are very few seats in grades 4 & 5.

If your child is not currently enrolled in a NYC public school, but you are interested in doing so, please go to http://schools.nyc.gov/ChoicesEnrollment/NewStudents/default.htm. There you will find information about registering your child in a NYC public school.

You can sign up to receive regular e-mail updates about the gifted and talented admissions process.

For more information about New York City Elementary School Gifted and Talented programs, see the Gifted & Talented Test Information and Program Guidelines handbooks.

Please take a moment to read 2 letters the DOE and DOH regarding Flu Prevention as well as the letter that our Flu Team has distributed to the parent body via backpack.

Lets stay healthy!

The Department of Education has developed guides for each grade, K-8, entitled "Great Expectations, Partnering for your child's future," describing what children should know by the end of each school year. The guides lay out in parent-friendly language the major elements of what children are learning--particularly in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, which are the focus of these guides. The guides are available in nine languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Korean and Haitian Creole). Families can obtain copies of these guides from the parent coordinator at their child's school. Copies can also be obtained by clicking below, under the particular language and grade.
